"All the songs [are] done; now all that remain is lots of rehearsing, and of course some general touch-ups and improvements," the band write on their web site.

"[At] this very moment, the famous artist Kris Verwimp is painting a cover for the 'Nocturnal Beast'," the group continue. "Additionally with the new logo, LORD BELIAL is going through lots of changes that make it all feel very exciting, as if a new era is rising…

"LORD BELIAL is in contact with the Dutch promotion label Panzer Promotions that now is working hard to put together a headlining European tour later this year."

As previously reported, LORD BELIAL have been confirmed as the headliners of the fourth annual Jalometalli Festival, set to be held August 19-20 in Oulu, Finland. Also scheduled to perform at the festival are EXMORTEM, EMBRAZE, FOR MY PAIN… and OMNIUM GATHERUM, among others.

CELTIC FROST Recording Final Production Demos For New Album May. 1st, 2005 @ 03:07 pm
CELTIC FROST frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer has posted the following message on his official blog:

"We recorded vocals for one of the songs for the final production demos for our new album yesterday, and we'll continue with two more on Saturday. Martin [Ain, bass] and I have worked on a variety of lyrics for months now… and some of the lyrics even go back much further than that. I had spent weeks preparing the vocal lines at my place and then took them to our rehearsal studio to practice them in absolute solitude, but with the energy of a live performance. As has always been true for CELTIC FROST, numerous rewrites became necessary to make everything work as it must for us to be satisfied. Martin often coached me where certain lines did not yet create the feel we had both imagined. Martin has always been a most resourceful vocal producer, but never before have we collaborated so closely.

"There had been some in and outside of the band who had already become slightly uneasy as we are nearing the completion of the album and there had not yet been any recorded lead vocals other than those I did last year for the 'Ground' demo and a few that Martin recorded for some of his songs. It often bemused and sometimes annoyed me. I have always worked like that, and I have no intention whatsoever of changing my approach. This is the way I write best. Although I usually pen draft lyrics almost from the minute we begin rehearsing a song, it will take still so much work until I feel in my mind that lyrics and music truly merge. Most often, my vocals are the very last item to be recorded, and not everybody is happy about that. On the other hand, never have I prepared and practiced lead vocals for a CELTIC FROST album more extensively and professionally than I do right now.

"Martin's lyrics for 'Ain Elohim', one of our most passionate new songs, are a significant body of work. The lyrics are extensive and deep, and the song combines some four different vocal styles. I approached it with a great deal of respect and finally sang it for the first time this week. And the song and me became one almost from the first try. I was stunned and relieved. So we decided to begin the already scheduled vocal recording sessions last night with 'Ain Elohim'. Erol engineered, Martin produced, and I sang. I have rarely felt more comfortable during a vocal recording session, and a lot of the credit for this must go to Erol, who was so quick, efficient and precise, and who, by now, knows by heart the sound requirements to bring out my strongest performances.

"We finished the session late at night, Martin and I performing backing vocals. I am now looking forward very much to Saturday's session. We'll begin with the lead vocals for 'No Thing Born' and hope to complete maybe two more songs before the day is over.

"Maybe our enthusiastic mood was boosted by our amusement over Sparrow-Hawk's ludicrous ten million word e-mail which we received mid-week and by my mocking of the hapless assertions contained therein. There's nothing better than somebody else proving to your friends what you have been telling them all along. Happiness is an album without dishonesty."

Best Albums of 2004 Dec. 31st, 2004 @ 01:21 pm
This is my version of the best albums of 2004(I could care less if you dont agree, this is coming from what I heard).Anyways this is in no particular order.

Borknagar - Epic (It sounds like some of their older CD's, its nothing new, but still its a good CD)

My Dying Bride - Songs of Darkness, Words of Light (This album is actually beyond words, no words can describe)

Finntroll - Nattfodd (This is one of their best, sounds like is between Midnattens Widunder and Jaktens Tid , some of these songs are ,well, folky others are like Midnattens Widunder)

Therion - Sirius B (I had a choice between Sirius B and Lemuria both are good releases but, this one's better, not by much)

Suffocation- Souls To Deny (It may have been 6 years since their last release but, this one toped it, some of the best death metal out their)

Darkthrone - Sardonic Wrath (I was very impressed with this album, sounds much more Raw and Evil than "Hate Them" Get If you live in America, get it when it comes out, I thinks it released on January 25 2005)

Behemoth - Demigod (Karl Sanders said it best"Demigod is a spectacular musical effort. Fucking blazing!" Nuff said)

Mayhem - Chimera (Its great but not as great as "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas", but it is fast and brutal like the old style Mayhem, must have for any fan of Mayhem, or Black Metal)

Lord Belial - The Seal Of Belial (One of thier best releases and is one of the best I have ever heard, key word is ONE)

Darkthrone's Fenriz Prestents The Best Of Old School Black Metal (Come on it features Blasphemy, Sarcofago, Celtic Frost, Nattefrost, Mercyful Fate, (OLD)SODOM(when they did Black Metal), Tormentor, Aura Noir, Destruction, Samael(when they were Black Metal), Bulldozer, Mayhem(with DEAD on vocals), Hellhammer, Burzum, Venom, and the almighty BATHORY)

THIS IS MY LIST AND SOMETIMES I DONT SPELL GOOD(CRAPPY ENGLISH TEACHERS)

» MAYHEM: Vocalist MANIAC Out, ATTILA Back In
Norwegian black metallers MAYHEM have parted ways with singer Maniac (real name Sven Erik Kristiansen) and replaced him with Attila Csihar (TORMENTOR, ABORYM). Attila had previously worked with the group on their 1993 release, "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas".

"Although many rumors flourished over the past months, nothing was decided until now," reads a statement from the group's record label, Season of Mist. "The reason for this change in line-up lies in more private matters, but has also to do with Maniac's inability to tour."

The band commented in a statement: "Maniac was, and will always be a part of our legacy, and it has been an honour to work with him for the last 10 years. Respect!"
» DARKTHRONE, Former EMPEROR Members Join Forces In Black Metal Supergroup
DISIPLIN guitarist General K has teamed up with Hellcommander Nattefrost (CARPATHIAN FOREST) and drummer Faust (ex-EMPEROR, DISSECTION) in a brand new band called HELVETE ("Hell" in Norwegian). Joining in on bass will be Invictus, and doing the vocals will be none other than Nocturno Culto (DARKTHRONE). No further information is currently available.

» GORGOROTH Recruit Session Musicians For Upcoming Tour
Norwegian black metallers GORGOROTH have recruited drummer Dirge Rep (ORCUSTUS, ex-ENSLAVED, GEHENNA) and guitarist Teloch (ORCUSTUS, NIDINGR) as session musicians for their upcoming European and Mexican tours.

GORGOROTH will embark on the "Twilight of the Idols" European headlining tour in early October. Support at all shows will come from 1349, the Norwegian group featuring SATYRICON drummer Frost. A Mexican trek will follow in early November. The complete list of tour dates can be viewed at this location.

GORGOROTH drew international attention in early February after they were accused of "offending religious feelings" during a concert in Poland. The band were also suspected of breaching the Polish law on protection of animals by displaying the severed and impaled heads of sheep as part of their stage act.
» USURPER Complete Work On 'Cryptobeast'
Chicago death/thrash lords USURPER have completed work on their fifth full-length album, "Cryptobeast". Recorded at Chicago's Rax Trax Studios with producer Neil Kernon (JUDAS PRIEST, DEICIDE, CANNIBAL CORPSE), "Cryptobeast" marks the recording debut with the group of new singer Dan "Tyrantor" Lawson and the return of the band's original drummer, Joe "Apocalyptic" Warlord.

Commented guitarist Rick Scythe: "Back is the drum insanity of 'Threshold of The Usurper' and the guitar tone to match. I think the overall impact of the songs will be 'Threshold'-type chaos combined with 'Necronemesis'-type precision. The production sounds like the instrument tones of 'Threshold/Diabolosis' combined with the attack of 'Twilight Dominion'. The cover art is once again being done by Craig 'Wicked Hand' Simpson. Thanks to all of our metal brothers and sisters who have stuck with us through all the years and all the line-up bullshit. We won't let you down!"

"Cryptobeast" track listing:

01. Bones of My Enemies
02. Supernatural Killing Spree
03. Kill For Metal
04. Conquest of The Grotesque
05. Return of The Werewolf
06. Reptilian
07. Cryptobeast
08. Wrath of God
09. Warriors of Iron and Rust (new version)
10. (untitled instrumental track)

"Cryptobeast" is now in the mastering stages and is slated for a March 2005 release through Earache Records.
